Nutrition / Alcohol

Recommending a healthy diet may seem trivial, but what you eat is extremely important. pay attention to your overweight. It can have a negative effect on fertility. Therefore you should pay attention to your body weight.

A study at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, Ireland, has confirmed that many soya products contain substances similar to oestrogen that can have a negative effect on sperm production. Scientists advise men who have problems relating to sperm quality to consume less soya. Soya is found in many products; it is often used, for example as a cheap meat substitute and can be found in foods such as frozen pizzas. Women should also be careful of eating soya products as it can also have a negative effect on female fertility.

Vitamins have a positive effect on sperm quality. The antioxidant active in vitamins C and E should have a positive effect on male fertility when taken in high dosages. The same is true for folic acids, vitamin B6 and B12, zinc and selenium. These diet supplements are cheap and free of side effects. They are always worth trying!

Sensible moderate alcohol consumption is acceptable. However, more than 40g of alcohol per day (about 1 litre of beer or 0.5 litre of wine) can have negative effects. The same applies to coffee consumption. However, in moderate quantities it can even improve sperm motility. Generally coffee is not harmful.
